DRAFT Minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday, 3 rd June 2026 at 7pm in the Clubhouse

Present: J Berryman, M Berryman, D Burrough, C Dimond, P Philp, B Philp, P Taylor, M Tubb and M Wallace.

2 The Green
C Dimond talked through a typical Monday morning’s work on the green.
This included the grass cutting by Martin which costs £550 a year, spraying and changing rinks and spiking. He also detailed the ongoing maintenance and responsibilities including:
Brushing the green every morning. (currently only 1 volunteer apart from
the green team)
Cutting the grass and cleaning mower afterwards
Spiking, which takes up to 3 ½ hours if the whole green is done.
Spraying, deciding when and where, cleaning equipment after and safety of chemicals.
Verticutting
Fertilise
Change rinks
Scarification between September and April
Re-seed if necessary
Treating for pests and disease
Treat with lawn sand in spring
Maintain petrol supply for machines.
The person responsible for the green also has to decide whether the green is fit to play on, schedule the rinks, decide when to irrigate and be present at the start of National and County games.
We have a very small team of volunteers who help with mowing,
verticutting and sweeping the green when compared with other local bowls clubs.

It was decided to call an open meeting for all members on 16 th June at 7pm to decide on the way forward when Chris steps back in September.
3 Safeguarding Officer
Appointing a new safeguarding officer, to be in place as a temporary
measure, will be on the agenda for the open meeting.
4 Any other business
Charity Day. Members to be asked for help on Charity Day.
Centenary
P Philp to put a notice in the Lostwithiel Newsletter and the Bridge inviting past members to the BBQ on 7 th July. She will also look at old membership lists for names.
Centenary Triples
Monies raised at the Centenary Triples were;
Raffle - £201 profit
Catering - £291 profit
Bar – £237 gross
Next meeting is the open meeting on 16 th June at 7pm.
